This creative gathering brings together intermedial approaches in the spirit of sharing, free-associating, and collaborative thinking. We invite researchers and artists working with fiery environments, seismic forces, and animal traversals of the planetary surface, among other topics, to share ideas and works-in progress in a space that leaves room for intuition and the unexpected.

Part II: Images of Fire, Animals, and Other Nonhumans
Geopraxis examines the different kinds of work involved in building the relationship between the forces of the Earth and the creatures inhabiting the planetary body. This open workshop focuses on the role of aesthetics and other sensuous activities in our understanding of geopraxis: If representation is a key component of knowledge, then what notion of the image—and which images specifically—are adequate to this emerging field of geopraxis? How can the forces of the Earth be represented without falling into abstraction, aestheticization, and sublimation? Or are there images of the sublime, the aesthetic, and the abstract that can adequately convey the diversity of creatures and forces upon the Earth? How can we rethink our ways of knowing and perceiving in light of overlapping planetary crises and the current environmental predicament?
