LISA has just secured funding from three major grant programs, guaranteeing essential resources to strengthen research, preserve our anthropological collection, and promote scientific dissemination.
The project to upgrade the infrastructure of our Multi-User Center was one of 68 proposals approved under the "Call for Proposals for Strategic Research Infrastructure at USP 2026," issued by the Office of the Pro-Rector for Research and Innovation (PRPI). It aims to renovate the Laboratory's infrastructure and acquire new audiovisual equipment. The project is coordinated by Professor Rose Satiko Hikiji, and implementation will be carried out by the LISA-USP team—specifically Ricardo Dionisio, head of the Multi-User Center, and Leo Fuzer, responsible for the documentation and conservation of LISA’s collections.
Meanwhile, the project to acquire a cooling and dehumidification system for the storage facility was among the 38 proposals selected in the FAPESP call for Museum, Bibliographic, and Archival Collections. The project will create a space with optimized conditions for preserving the Laboratory's photographic, audio, and audiovisual collections—which include, among others, one of the most important collections regarding Indigenous populations in Latin America. Coordinated by Rose Satiko, the project will be supervised by Leo Fuzer.
Additionally, LISA hosts the project "RESPIRO: Restoring Cerrado Pyrodiversity," developed under the FAPESP/BIOTA Young Researcher Program and coordinated by Professor Guilherme Fagundes. It will receive funding to upgrade research infrastructure and acquire audiovisual and computing equipment.
LISA houses:
Over 2,000 films
- 24,500 images (including photographs and glass plates)
- 700 hours of audio recordings
- Reference books, theses, and catalogs
