Discussion of the book "Musicar local: trilhas para estudos musicais" (Local Musicking: Pathways for Music Studies), which explores the potential of the concept of “local musicking,” inspired by the neologism coined by Christopher Small—“musicking”—a term intended to encompass any form of engagement with music.
Featuring Suzel Reily (coordinator of the Fapesp Thematic Project “Musicar local: new paths for ethnomusicology”), Flávia Toni (musicologist and full professor at the IEB-USP Institute), and Rose Satiko (associate professor in the Department of Anthropology at USP).
