This photo essay was produced among the Asuriní do Xingu (PA) children from the Koatinemo and Itaca villages on two field trips for doctoral research, between November 2012 and May 2013. The chosen photographs are intended to show the strength and vitality of the Asuriní children today, given its importance for affirming the ethos of the people who, forty years ago, went through the threat of physical extinction after contact, due to the contraction of illnesses and deaths of many members of the group. In the mid-1980s, the Asuriní began a process of demographic recovery - with an increase in the birth rate - which extends to the present day.
